It’s been a long while since posting. I’m not a good postwoman.

Tides have turned and new flavours arise from the imagination as winter gives way to spring, we breathe a collective sigh of relief as the sun emerges from behind the perpetual sky blanket.

Clevedon pier

My work has returned in larger format…maybe it’s a bit more form oriented than previous attempts in abstraction. It could indeed be looser, but I’ve not painted for sometime on this scale. It can take some time to loosen up again.

Under drawing

Oils have regained their status as top medium…I adore the way the paint responds. After specialising in acrylics for some time, it’s wonderful to be using silky oils again and experimenting with different types of mediums like linseed and safflower oils.

Here’s the result of a full days painting on top of the understudy. I’m really pleased with the vibrancy and movement of the piece. For more on this work go here.

Things that matter always take their time, like nature…and boats!

The estuary

Stop and breathe the air today.

Welcome to Spring.
