Oil on canvas of a view from a Portland window overlooking the cliffs and the sea and a bed of dwellings lit by the currents coming through the wires of light.
40 x 40 cm
My visits to Portland recently, until the lockdown, have proved fruitful. I studied this view for some time, took shots at different times of the day and made a few doodles. However, when it came time to execute this painting, I started with mark making from memory, in charcoal. I then sealed it and painted it in with oil paint.
